1Overview
Kaali Raani is a card game for 5–10 players. In each round, one player (the Bidder) wins the bidding phase, selects a trump suit, and recruits partners through specific designated cards.
The Bidder's team attempts to capture sufficient card points to meet or exceed the bid, while all other players act as opponents.

3Bidding
Bidding begins with the player to the left of the dealer and proceeds clockwise.
- Bids must increase in increments of 5 points.
- A player may bid higher than the current high or pass.
- The first bidder may not pass if all other players have already passed.
- A player who passes is out of the bidding for that round.
- The last remaining bidder becomes the Bidder.
4Trump & Partners
After winning the bid, the Bidder declares a trump suit and announces partner cards (specific rank + suit, e.g. Ace of Spades).
5 players
1 card announced · 1 partner slot
6–8 players
2 cards announced · 2 partner slots
9–10 players
2 cards announced · 3 partner slots
The two announced cards must be different cards.
- A player becomes a partner when they play one of the announced cards.
- Partnerships remain secret until the card is played.
- The announced cards exist in 2–3 copies (multiple decks), so more than one player may hold the same one.
- Only the first cards played count — as many as there are partner slots. Once the slots are filled, any later copy is just an ordinary card.
★ Double Partner
If one player fills both partner slots before anyone else does, they become a Double Partner: their score (positive or negative) is doubled, and the bidding side is a player short — in a 6-player game that makes it 2 against 4.
Someone who plays an announced card after the slots are gone is not a partner and not a double.
5Playing Hands
The Bidder leads the first hand. Play proceeds clockwise.
- Players must follow the led suit if able.
- If unable to follow suit, any card may be played.
- If trump was played: highest trump wins.
- Otherwise: highest card of the led suit wins.
- The winner of each hand leads the next.
